January 18 – Two goals from Almoez Ali, the young Qatari striker who is rapidly becoming the star of this tournament, made many personal, national and continental records as well as setting a number of new Qatar records.
Qatar caught Saudi Arabia unaware with 2-0 victory in the Group D decisive encounter to lead the group with their first-ever three successive wins.
The two goals took Almoez’s tally to seven,adding to the four against North Korea and his first goal against Lebanon. He has become first Arab footballer to score 7 goals in one tournament.

- Almuez has become the top Asian Cup group stage scorer jointly with Iran’s Ali Daei, South Korea’s Choi Soon-Ho and Japan’s Naohiro Takahara, all scored 7 goals in the Group Stage.
