January 22 – Adidas have unveiled the ball for the Champions League final to be played at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid.
In tradition of ball unveilings Adidas have given theball a name – simply called the ‘Madrid Finale 19’ ball. Distinguishing features are its red and orange graphics along with white star panels.
The ‘Madrid Finale 19’ will be used in all remaining matches in the Champions League this season, starting from the round of 16 which gets under way in February.
“A three-level digital glitch graphic has been created in order to give the product a bold modern look,” said a UEFA press release.
“The ball boasts the latest adidas performance technology to ensure the world’s best players can perform at their optimum level during the UEFA Champions League. An outer texture coating – consistent across all adidas UEFA Champions League official match balls – offers secure grip and complete control, while the thermally bonded star panels provide a seamless surface for an improved first touch.”
It is also round.
