February 21 – Scottish football officials are considering bringing in English or even overseas referees to put a stop to some of the atrocious decision-making this season according to unconfirmed reports.
The move is apparently driven by champions Celtic with the support of a number of other clubs.
A working group made up of a number of top flight clubs is reportedly being set up with a view to urgently addressing the current standard of refereeing and the alterations could be introduced as early as next season.
A number of clubs have expressed concern about the standards of refereeing and are in favour of increasing the pool of grade one referees by calling on officials from England, Wales or even further afield.
In 2010, referees from Israel, Luxembourg and Malta officiated in Scottish top-flight matches after domestic officials went on strike after criticism of their performances.
