July 30 – The growing demand by online gaming businesses for shirt sponsor positions with Spain’s top-flight clubs has seen Valencia hook up with Bwin as their jersey sponsor in a three-year deal starting next season.
The online bookmaker was already the club’s official partner for online games and betting.
Bwin will takeover from US smartphone manufacturer Blu and will see out Valencia’s centenary year.
Blu’s contract with Valencia was reportedly worth about €4 million per season. The Bwin deal is expected to beat that though the club have not released details.
LaLiga’s Sevilla replaced social gaming firm Playtika with online bookmaker Marathonbet as their new shirt sponsor in a two-year deal earlier this month.
The Marathonbet deal is reported to be worth €5 million per season. The betting site will have branding at the club’s Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, as well as in mixed zones and interview areas.
Valencia have been selling their club partnerships aggressively in recent months replacing kit manufacturer Adidas in a €4 million a year deal. They have also signed sponsorships with LG, Uber and the low-cost Spanish airline, Vueling.
