July 3 – Japanese videogame maker Konami Digital Entertainment has signed a co-operation agreement with Manchester United for its eFootball PES 2020 game. The announcement follows news that Arsenal have extended their global partnership with Konami for a further three years, taking them through to June 2022.
The announcements coincide with the start of the PES League 2019 World Finals, being hosted at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
Under the new deal with Man Utd, Konami will create the most detailed recreation of the club’s Old Trafford stadium to date, while the current squad have also been created using a full-body 3D scanning process, providing players of the game with ultra-realistic avatars of their favourite players.
Jonas Lygaard, senior director brand & business development at Konami Digital Entertainment said: “KONAMI is incredibly proud to be working with the biggest football clubs in the world. We are excited to bring Manchester United into the eFootball PES series – renowned for its realism and control.”
Konami is promising to revolutionise eFootball with PES 2020 “ and introduce the sport to a new global audience.”
The game features a brand-new ‘Matchday’ mode that will allow fans to team up and play in weekly competition games, which correlate to real-world football matches. Winners from each game will earn points towards their team’s overall tally. Teams and players with the highest points score can then go on to compete in a Grand Final with the chance to be crowned the overall winner.
An exclusive Manchester United Club Edition of the game will also be available at launch, September 10 in Europe. eFootball PES 2020 will be available on PlayStation4, Xbox One, and PC STEAM.
