August 13 – Paris Saint-Germain have renewed their partnership with video game developer EA Sports that will see new club features and enhanced PSG graphics introduced for the FIFA 20 game launching next month.
The new deal will run through to 2024, extending a partnership that began in 2011.
As well as the addition of club assets into the game, PSG said the new arrangement will include “the co-creation of digital content and setting up international events throughout the season as well as during the club’s pre-season tours.”
Marc Armstrong, Chief Partnerships Officer at Paris Saint-Germain, said: “We look forward to designing and building major new projects together in the years to come, especially in the digital area. We know that a large proportion of the people who engage with Paris Saint-Germain, not least our fans all over the world, regularly play the various games created by EA Sports. PSG has been one of the football club pioneers in the video gaming arena having successfully launched its own e-sports team and even secured a six-figure shirt sponsorship deal with online bookmaker Betway for its Dota 2 team.
The EA Sports deal is focussed on the consumer market and PSG’s expanding global profile.
Antoine Cohet, Sr Marketing Manager at Electronic Arts. said: “We have chosen to strengthen our commitment to the club and give ourselves the freedom to create new content that will captivate the community. Paris Saint-Germain’s fans will continue to have the chance to play with their club and their favourite players with increasingly unrivalled authenticity on FIFA.”
The FIFA 20 game will be on-sale September 27 with fans purchasing the Ultimate and Champions Editions getting access on September 24. Prices range from £53.99 to £89.99.
