Sevilla keep up expansion with €20m spend on corporate hub

September 18 – LaLiga’s Sevilla have unveiled further plans for the €20 million extension of their Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios complex into a new corporate centre for the club.

Sevilla president José Castro and general director José María Cruz confirmed in July that the club have expansion plans for their ground – the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. A third tier to their current 43,000 all-seater capacity would help “adapt the stadium to modern times,” said Castro.

Last season Sevilla enjoyed average attendances of 36,050 fans, making them the 7th best attended club in Spain. FC Barcelona top the attendances charts with an average of 75,208 followed by Real Madrid in second place with 60,967.

The revamped complex will house the club’s commercial operations and take between three and four years to complete and will span 260,000 sqm. 60,000 will be for use by the first team, and will include training pitches, a gym, medical centre, dining area and accommodation.

The development will have eight football fields, split between three artificial grass surfaces and five natural grass ones. The Jesús Navas stadium, home to Sevilla’s reserve and women’s teams, will also have its capacity expanded and corporate offices for 400 employees added. Further offices will be built under another of the stadium’s stands.

“The club’s income comes from the first team, for the most part. Without a doubt we have had enough income to allow us to carry out this project. We have spent €10 million on the training ground already, and as part of the new investment we will spend another €20 million. We have also spent approximately €15 million on the stadium,” said Castro.

“Our growth will not stop. We are aware that one day we will need another training ground for the academy. We have started talking to the council in Dos Hermanas to expand what we have. However, we will continue to meet with them and hopefully reach an agreement that makes sense.”
