Former Liverpool and EPL exec Parry in pole position to be new chair of EFL

September 20 – Former Premier League and Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry is set to be appointed as the English Football League’s new chairman.

The EFL’s 72 clubs will meet on 26 September and if endorsed, 64-year-old Parry will be ratified at a general meeting in the coming months.

Parry would join the EFL at time of crisis following the expulsion of League One Bury and a 12-point deduction imposed on Bolton Wanderers after going into administration.

Parry was the Premier League’s very first chief executive when it launched in 1992 and went on to spend 12 years in a similar job with Liverpool. He will be tasked with “overseeing the growth and development of the EFL with the aim of ensuring the continued strength” of its competitions.
