September 20 – On Tuesday the UEFA Champions League kicked off in a fluorescent blaze of orange and yellows with a new adidas ball. Last night it was the turn of Japanese manufacturer Molten to launch its 2019/20 ball into the Europe League competition.
Molten is in the second year of its Europa League sponsorship and has adapted the design of its Vantaggio 5000 ball for the group stages. Adidas may have missed a marketing trick by not giving its ball a name.
Like adidas for the Champions League, Molten will bring another new design in for the finals.
Press releases emphasise similar qualities in the thermal bonding of both balls which reduces water absorption while a textured finish improve flight and accuracy.
The difference between the balls is all in the design colourways.
