No German jaunt for Wenger as Bayern keep up search for Kovac replacement

Arsene Wenger

November 8 – Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is out of the race to become the next head coach of Bayern Munich, according to reports in Germany.

Wenger had expressed his interest and apparently spoke to Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge but, after an initial conversation, it was decided he  was no longer an option for the role following the recent sacking of Niko Kovac.

Bayern face Borussia Dortmund in a mouth-watering on Saturday but will not appoint a replacement for Kovac until afterwards.

Reports suggest Wenger, who has made no secret of the fact he would like what could be one last challenge, was not interested in signing a short-term deal, with Bayern wary about appointing a long-term successor so fast.
