November 21 – SIGA, who today lead an Expert Summit session on match-fixing at the Soccerex convention in Miami, have announced two new initiatives taking place in December, both timed to coincide with ‘International Anti-Corruption Day’.
Sports Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) CEO Emanuel de Medeiros said: “In pursuance of our reform agenda and global strategy plan for the current year, we will launch our Independent Anti-Corruption Initiative ‘Clean Sport’ on 9 December 2019.”
“Through a series of ‘SIGA Talks’, we intend to mobilise young influencers, key thinkers, integrity experts and practitioners from the world of sport and anti-corruption. We encourage all SIGA Members and Committed Supporters to join us on this important occasion and invite you to host a SIGA Talk.”
This year’s topic will be ‘Speak Up for Sport Integrity’ and SIGA will launch the initiative in Kosovo prior to their inter-regional summit the following day.
“During 90 minutes, the regular length of a football match, speakers will be invited to pitch their creative ideas around preventing and solving pressing corruption problems affecting sport. The purpose is to hold a series of SIGA Talks, simultaneously, in different parts of the world,” said de Medeiros.
Return to Kosovo
The third Inter-Regional Summit will take place in Pristina, Kosovo, December 10, from 09:30 till 15:00. It is the second time the National Olympic Committee of Kosovo, has hosted SIGA and follows on from the Doha,Qatar, edition, the first in the Middle East.
SIGA will announce the agenda and speakers in the coming days who will be a mix of leaders from sport, governments and global business.
“We will look into the progress made over the last year and address the challenges ahead facing, not just the Balkan region, but the wider Central and Eastern Europe,” said de Medeiros.
