December 4 – Juventus fans are being given the opportunity to vote on the new goal celebration song that will be played when their team score at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.
To be eligible to vote fans have to bought into the blockchain-based Juventus fan tokens – the cryptocurrency $JUV. Tokens cost about €2 each (depending at the exchange rate of their Chiliz $CHZ platform) and the club is making 20 million tokens available to fans.
Tokens can only be bought through socios.com and are tradeable. A limited number of Fan Tokens are available for free via the app’s Augmented Reality feature, Token Hunt. The tokens give supporters the opportunity to take part in the club decision-making via polls and surveys as well as receive reward points for engaging with the club and other fans. The points can be exchanged for exclusive merchandise and unique experiences, said a club press release.
Juventus are the first of six clubs that will come to market with socios.com coin. Fan Token Offerings are in the pipeline for Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético de Madrid in late January, to be followed by West Ham United, Galatasaray and A.S. Roma in February.
Giorgio Ricci, chief revenue officer of Juventus, said: “We are proud to be the first Club to be activated …, inaugurating a new way to interact with our fans around the world. This partnership shows once again how much technological evolution and innovation are two priorities for Juventus, also in the way we relate to and connect with our fan base. “
Juventus reckons it has 423 million fans worldwide. “As well as giving fans the chance to make their voice heard, we’ve also created a powerful new communication channel for the club, allowing them to better understand, recognise and reward their global fanbase,” said Alexander Dreyfus, CEO and Founder of Chiliz and Socios.com
