Oyarzabal and Sterling top list player transfer growth values ahead of Winter window

December 11 – With the winter transfer window looming, KPMG Football Benchmark has updated its players’ value estimates and ranked players by most increased value since the start of the season.

Top of that list is Real Sociedad and Spain winger Mikel Oyarzabal with a €21 million increase in market value over the past three months. He is followed by Manchester City’s Rahem Sterling, whose €19 million growth in value since September has also elevated him to becoming the 5th most valuable footballer at €160 million, according to KPMG’s valuation.

The chart below shows the top 10 increases in market value (in absolute terms) since 1 September 2019.

“The list of the top 10 players according to absolute market value has changed slightly since September: the top four (Mbappé, Neymar, Messi and Hazard) remained the same, while Rahem Sterling jumped from 7th to 5th place. Liverpool striker Sadio Mané is a new joiner to this elite, and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba dropped out of the top 10,” say the KPMG researchers.
