December 18 – UEFA has issued tenders covering its club competition licenses in the areas of video games and esports, as well as for the creation of a number of UEFA-branded products.
Proposals are invited covering the 2021-24 cycle.
The video games sector is broken into a number of categories, including the official simulation game and eSports event. Proposals can be made for one category or a number of categories though UEFA emphasises that the confederation cannot grant rights to club and player IP.
UEFA rights tendered are for:

- Official football management games
- Football related casual games and hyper-casual games with associated e-Sports rights
Branded products
While video games and eSports is the fastest growing area of brand extension and new commercial opportunity, there is still good business to be had in more traditional licensed product.
To that end UEFA is inviting proposals “from suitably qualified companies, ideally with experience working with sports properties” the following categories:
- Trophy Replicas
- Toys and Board Games
- Back to School
