SAVE THE DATE: Sports Law at the Crossroads II – Decoding the new codes

January 30 – The third Rex Sport/Insideworldfootball conference will be held  June 5-6, Barcelona, Spain, at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona. Click here to register your interest in attending and to receive conference information updates.

Extending the themes of the 2019 conference in Madrid, the conference programme will follow up on the new regulations regarding the transfer and status of players, including the new and controversial rules for agents and their commissions.

2019 was a pivotal year for the introduction of the new reform packages concerning player status and transfers, as well as a new WADA code. Conference sessions will examine in depth what these new codes entail and how the regulations are being applied in 2020.

With more reforms on the way regarding transfers, and player agents and intermediaries facing a new set of governing rules that financially impact their business, the forum will discuss whether the regulations are a step forward or a step back.

Conference sessions will also look forward to further amendments expected in the WADA code, examine the new Olympic bylaw covering athlete endorsements and advertising, as well as conduct a masterclass on a number of CAS awards that every sports law practitioner must be aware of.

More detail of the conference programme and speakers will be announced in the next two weeks when formal conference registration will also open.
