Kosovan FA boss Ademi jailed for 9 months

February 28 – Kovoso’s football supremo Agim Ademi has been sentenced to nine months in prison by the country’s Appeals Court over attempted coercion.

The case dates back to 2012. Last year, a lower court in Pristina had passed the ruling, which was upheld by Kosovo’s Appeal Court.

Ademi and his friend Muharrem Rama, who was sentenced to a year behind bars, allegedly coerced a business associate into paying €30,000 to a municipal official in Pristina in exchange for falsified documents in relation to a real estate deal. In July 2018, Ademi had become the president of the Football Federation of Kosovo.

In March, Kosovo will take on North Macedonia in the Euro 2020 play-offs. The winner will face Georgia or Belarus for a place in the finals. Kovoso have never qualified for a major tournament.
