March 11 – What happens if the Serie A season in Italy can’t be completed as a result of Covid-19?
A spate of matches have either been postponed or played behind closed doors and Italian authorities met this week to discuss the increasing likelihood of fixture congestion.
Although Serie A has only been postponed until April 3, three possible options are apparently on the table if there ends up being no resumption, or no time to reschedule games.
The first is that the league ends with no champion, with Serie A telling UEFA which teams will play in European competition next season.
Another option would be to end the season now and use the current standings to determine who wins the league, plus all the European spots and relegation.
The final option to is to have play-offs both for the title and for relegation to Serie B.
