SIGA Strives 24: Integrity body opens applications for Youth Council

June 5 – The Sports Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has opened up applications to anyone aged 18-25 to become a member of its newly launched Youth Council for Sport Integrity.

The initiative follows on from interest in SIGA’s #TakeCharge campaign and is aimed at engaging young people in sport integrity and governance issues.

SIGA said its Youth Council will give young people a voice at the highest levels of SIGA’s decision-making and that it is “looking for young people from different continents, with different backgrounds and skills, including, but not limited to, sports, technology, and communications.”

“The SIGA Youth Council will have a range of responsibilities across all SIGA work streams, and operational autonomy, including directly contributing to a Youth Forum, content generation and advocacy in a variety of forms. Notably, the Chair and Vice-Chair will also have a seat on the SIGA Council, thus ensuring the views of the younger generations are duly taken into account and represented,” said a SIGA press release.

Applications are open until August 28. To apply, candidates should send a cover letter and brief CV to moc.t1731710134rops-1731710134agis@1731710134ofni1731710134. The members of the SIGA Youth Council will be announced during the SIGA Sport Integrity Week, September 7-11.

Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, CEO of SIGA and Chairman and CEO of SIGA America, issued a call to youth saying: “Aren’t you sick and tired of being told it’s not your turn? If you are the future, how can the future be shaped without your active engagement? Sport Integrity will only be as strong as you want it to be. That’s why your voice needs to be heard. Take charge. Use your power. Grasp this opportunity. Help us to instill real cultural change and integrity values in sport. Together, we can do it.”

The launch of the SIGA Youth Council is the 24th in a set of 30 boosting measures as part of the integrity body’s global campaign #SIGASTRIVES.
