PSG face Lyon as they look to secure French treble with League Cup win

July 31 – Paris St Germain will be aiming for a domestic treble tonight when they take on Lyon in the rescheduled French League Cup final.

The game marks the end of an era for the Coupe de la Ligue which is being scrapped in France, leaving England as the only top-flight footballing nation to retain a tournament that has become something of an anachronism elsewhere in Europe.

PSG have already won the French title and the French Cup but will be without the injured Kylian Mbappe against Lyon who badly need the trophy to make up for a season in which they finished seventh when the campaign was curtailed prematurely, outside the European places.

PSG will rightly start favourites even without Mbappe but Lyon will take heart from the French Cup when St Etienne were only marginally beaten.
