October 20 – Serie A giants Internazionale have continued their international expansion of their Inter Academy programme with two new sites in Russia, in Moscow and Novosibirsk, being added to their existing hub in Saint Petersburg.

The Inter Academy Moscow and Inter Academy Novosibirsk have been set up in partnership with Golden Ball 2010 LLC who will run both sites, initially initially with oversight from Italy via webinars to provide training to local coaches and young players.

“The launch of these two new projects [in Russia] represents an important new step in the development of the Inter Acadmey project around the world, as well as consolidating our presence in Russia,” said FC Internazionale Milano Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello.

Worldwide, Inter Academy now has centres in Belarus, China, Indonesia, Japan, Lebanon, Brazil, Uruguay, Slovakia and Hungary. The club says it has more than 20,000 young players, 450 local coaches with 30 Italian coaches taking part in the project – in China the club has seven academy projects.

Jordi Gratacos, the founder and general manager of Golden Ball 2010 LLC, said: “We have no doubt that this is a huge opportunity for the children in the two Russian cities. They will be exposed to the methodology of a cutting-edge club, learn about sporting values and develop as part of a historic club.”
