October 23 – Arsenal have agreed an official partnership with global aluminium packaging company Ball Corporation in a co-operation designed to help the club and its fans reduce their impact on the environment.
Some fans might argue that the Arsenal’s impact on its football environment had already been diminished, though it is showing signs of returning to former glories under Mikel Arteta’s stewardship. Those fans are looking for a more sustainable future – at the core of the Ball proposition, albeit in a more globally friendly context.
The club and Ball Corporation “will work together to look at how the club can use aluminium packaging to build on the sustainability practices already employed. The parties involved will also use exclusive player access and digital communications in the stadium and beyond to promote the importance of recycling for Arsenal fans and their communities around the world,” said a club press release.
Arsenal’s partnership with Ball Corporation builds on both parties’ long history of working to support their community and signals a long-term commitment to a sustainable future.
Arsenal’s owners Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) have similar deals with Ball Corporation across their other sports franchises: NBA’s Denver Nuggets, NHL’s Colorado Avalanche, NLL’s Colorado Mammoth and NFL’s Los Angeles Rams.
Peter Silverstone, Commercial Director at Arsenal, said: “This is the start of an exciting journey between Arsenal and Ball Corporation. Underpinned by cutting-edge technology and a strong belief in the power of education, sustainability is a core pillar of Ball Corporation’s business. They have a great track record in this space and the global agreement with the KSE group – which includes a Premier League club with its global reach and engagement – shows their understanding of the power of football and a commitment to making a difference across sport.”
