October 26 – England’s women’s team have cancelled a friendly against Germany in Wiesbaden this week because of the coronavirus pandemic. A member of the English back room staff tested positive.
England haven’t played a game since March when they lost to Spain in the SheBelieves Cup and they won’t return to action on Tuesday when they had planned to take on Germany.
“While we all wanted to play Tuesday’s game, this was absolutely the right course of action. I thank Germany’s staff for their understanding and our FA colleagues for their support,” said England coach Phil Neville in statement.
German FA vice-president Hannelore Ratzeburg said: “We are very sorry that our game against England cannot take place. We are well prepared and were really looking forward to this comparison. But we have to accept this decision by the English Association.”
