Belgium extend lead at top of World Rankings, Brazil close gaps

November 27 – After a dark summer with almost no international football played, Autumn has brought some light with 160 full internationals played in November that in turn have impacted FIFA’s rankings.

The top six nations remain unchanged with Belgium increasing their lead slightly over France, who saw their lead over Brazil contract after the Brazilain’s unbeaten start to their World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign.

Back in the top 10, with Mexico (9th, +2) and Italy (10th, +2). Croatia (11th, -2) and Colombia (15th, -5) are the two teams dropping out.

The biggest climbers this month are CAF nations Equatorial Guinea (134th, +10) and Burundi (138th, +10). Four other national teams have moved up five or more places in this month’s classification, namely: Latvia (136th, +6), Curacao (76th, +5), Azerbaijan (109th, +5) and South Sudan (163rd, +5).

Cook Islands failed to get ranked, having been inactive. The sportsmen of the nation, made up of 15 islands (pop. 17,570) are presumably all preparing for the Rugby League World Cup 2021 to be held in England. The Cook Islands qualified for that tournament by beating South Africa.
