December 23 – With two World Club Cups to be hosted in Qatar in 2021, venues for the 7-team format have been chosen for the first edition in February 1-11.
The opening match will be played at the just-inaugurated Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium while the final will be hosted at Education City Stadium. The Khalifa International stadium will also be used.
All three venues are due to host World Cup fixtures in 2022
The opening match will be between Qatari champions Al Duhail and Auckland City of New Zealand on February 1.
Other teams qualified are Egypt’s Al Ahly from CAF, UEFA will be represented by Germany’s Bayern Munich, Ulsan Hyundai from South Korea will represent the AFC, while Tigres UANL from Mexico qualified by winning the Concacaf Champions League last night. Conmebol will qualify their team following the Copa Libertadores final in late January.
The draw will take place in Zurich, January 19.
