SheBelieves Cup closes with US win and record ratings

February 26 – The SheBelieves Cup in the US completed earlier this week with a resounding 6-0 win over for the hosts over Argentina, two goals for Megan Rapinoe, and record viewing figures.

The US dominated the four team tournament with Canada, Argentina and Brazil. Opening with 1-0 win over Canada, they followed that up with a 2-0 win over Brazil last Sunday before the demolition of Argentina.

USA-Brazil scored as the most-watched non-women’s World Cup match on FS1 in three years.  568,000 viewers tuned in for the win which was the most-watched SheBelieves Cup match ever on FS1, up +103% from 2019’s average.

The US are now undefeated in 37 games and 53 on American soil. Under Vlatko Andonovski, who took over from Jill Ellis after the France 2019 World Cup, they have had 16 wins from 16 matches.

Ahead of the Japan Olympics the Americans will be solid favourites with the main challenge they face likely to come from Europe.

Brazil finished second in the tournament beating Canada 2-0 in their final match having already defeated Argentina 4-1. Canada beat Argentina 1-0 giving them thrid place.
