Lewandowski to miss Poland’s crucial 2022 in England

March 30 – Poland captain and world player of the year Robert Lewandowski will miss Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier with England due to knee injury, a potentially damaging blow to his country’s hopes of automatic qualification.

The 32-year-old Bayern Munich striker limped off during Sunday’s win over Andorra after scoring two goals.

In a further blow midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak and defender Kamil Piatkowski have  both tested positive for coronavirus.

Lewandowski, whose injury was confirmed on Monday, faces a race to be fit for Bayern’s all-important Champions League quarter-final first leg against Paris St-Germain. The Polish FA said he faces up to 10 days out with ligament damage. He has returned to Germany for further treatment.
