Liverpool working with police to identify Real Madrid bus attackers

April 15 – Liverpool have condemned the attack on Real Madrid’s bus before their Champions League semifinal on Wednesday as “unacceptable and shameful”.

The coach carrying the Spanish team was attacked with projectiles ahead of the game, breaking several windows. A video showed the bus had sustained a broken window.

“We condemn unequivocally the actions that led to Real Madrid’s team bus being damaged during its arrival to Anfield this evening,” said a Liverpool spokesperson.  “It is totally unacceptable and shameful behaviour of a few individuals.

“We sincerely apologise to our visitors for any distress caused. We will work together with Merseyside Police to establish the facts and identify those responsible.”

Liverpool fans are repeat offenders when it comes to attacking a bus. In 2018, Manchester City’s bus was attacked ahead of a Champions League quarter-final. Liverpool apologised at the time.
