May 5 – The Scottish FA has asked for government approval for up to 3,000 fans to attend the Scottish Cup final between Hibernian and St Johnstone on May 22.
Initially it looked as though no fans would not be allowed to attend as the Hampden Park stadium comes under control of UEFA from May 14, ahead of Euro 2022 that begins in June. Work scheduled for Hampden in advance of the European Championships needs to be completed in time for a safety certificate to be granted.
However, UEFA has given permission for a “limited number” of fans to attend the final.
Scottish covid-19 restrictions are currently tighter than those in England with only 500 fans allowed to attend outdoor events from May 17.
UEFA has agreed a waiver with the Scottish government that 12,000 fans will be allowed into Hampden for Scotland’s Euro 2020 matches against Czech Republic and Croatia at Hampden in June.
