July 16 – Gambling blocking software business Gamban has become a member of sports integrity group SIGA (Sport Integrity Global Alliance).
Gamban is designed to be a first step towards recovery from gambling addiction, blocking thousands of gambling websites and apps globally on mobile phones. It is designed to be as difficult to remove as possible.
Gamban, Director of External Affairs, Matt Zarb-Cousin, said: “As the integration between sports and gambling continues to increase worldwide, Gamban has joined forces with SIGA to highlight the impact of gambling harm on the mental health of sportspeople, fans basis, and the wider community. Other vulnerabilities may arise, including match-fixing. We also acknowledge Sports’ promotion of gambling has impacted young fans.
“As more jurisdictions begin to legalize gambling, there would be an increased risk to sports Integrity. We are keen to highlight issues that may arise from the intersection between gambling and sport and tackle them effectively.”
SIGA now hasmore than 100 other members, supporters and partners from the worlds of sport, business, government and civil society.
SIGA, Global CEO Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros said:“We are delighted to welcome Gamban as our newest member, and look forward to working closely with them, especially in the field of sports betting integrity where their knowledge, expertise and advanced technology can make the difference.”
