December 23 – Manchester City Women’s team will warm up their new year campaign with a training camp in CostaDaurada, whose tourist authority has become the team’s latest sponsor.
Costa Daurada, in Spain’s Catalonia region, is one of the main tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, offering visitors a range of leisure, cultural and historical activities.
The destination will benefit from exclusive content creation and fan engagement activities, and have brand recognition brand across a number of assets at the Academy Stadium and the club’s digital and social channels.
Gavin Makel, Managing Director of Manchester City Women, said: “Becoming our Tourism Partner speaks volumes about their commitment to the women’s game and its growth, and we’re excited about the opportunities that will be afforded to our team and supporters in line with this partnership.”
Costa Daurada has used sport regularly to market the region.
Berta Cabré, President of the Federation of Hospitality & Tourism in Tarragona (FEHT), said: “Many of the initiatives we carry out are related to sport, as we wish to highlight Costa Daurada as a sports destination. For years, we have sponsored events that take place in the area, such as the Mundialito, the Costa Daurada Cup, golf tournaments and cycle races.
“We believe that a team as important and with as many supporters as Manchester City Women’s Football Club will help continue to position the region of Costa Daurada as a leading destination in sports tourism and help encourage tourismyear-round.”
