February 24 – Seven of the eight centralised venues for the group stages of the AFC’s second tier club competition, the AFC Cup 2022, have been confirmed.
Groups will be played in the West and South Zones from May 18 to 24, and in the ASEAN, Central and East Zones from June 24 to 30.
The eighth centralised venue is still to be announced.
Groups and venues confirmed are:
West Zone
Group A: Muscat, Oman – three-time winners Kuwait SC will face Lebanon’s Al Ansar ,Al Seeb Club from Oman and Jableh of Syria.
Group B: Kuwait City – Al Riffa from Bahrain, Palestine’s Shabab Al Khalil, Dhofar Club of Oman and Kuwaiti’ Arabi SC.
Group C: Manama, Bahrain – Tishreen (Syria, Nejmeh (Lebanon), East Riffa (Bahrain), Hilal Alquds (Palestine).
South Zone
Group D: Kolkata, India – Gokulam Kerala (India), Bashundhara Kings (Bangladesh), Maziya Sports and Recreation (Maldives), plus the winner of a six-team South Asian contest in the Preliminary and Playoff Stages.
Central Zone
Group E: Dushanbe, Tajikistan – Altyn Asyr (Turkmenistan), PFC Neftchi (Kyrgyz Republic), tournament debutants FC CSKA (Tajikistan) and either FC Nasaf or PFC Sogdiana from Uzbekistan.
Group F: Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic – FC Khujand (Tajikistan), FC Dordoi (Kyrgyz Republic), Kopetdag( Turkmenistan).
ASEAN Zone
Group G: Denpasar, Indonesia – Bali United (Indonesia), Kedah Darul Aman FC (Malaysia), Kaya FC-Iloilo (Philippines)
Group H: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
East Zone
Group J: Tainan, Chinese Taipei – Eastern Long Lions (Hong Kong), MUST CPK (Macau), Tainan City (Chinese Taipei) and either Hong Kong’s Lee Man or Athletic 220 from Mongolia.
