April 14 – FIFA has appointed former Juventus commercial chief Romy Gai as its Chief Business Officer.
Gai (pictured) will take over from Kay Madati who only joined the world governing body last July. Madati said he is leaving for personal reasons to focus on his family.
taking over from Mr Kay Madati who, for personal reasons, will depart the organisation as Chief Commercial Officer in the coming months.
Gai has been chairman of AWE International Group sice 2015 which specialises in fan engagement and consults brands. He spent 14 years as chief revenue officer and marketing director and CEO assistant at Juventus as well as time as CEO of the UAE Football League (UFL).
FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura said: “He has had a lifetime involvement in football, and we are delighted to have his expertise to help shape our future business ventures across the world.”
Gai emphasised growing FIFA’s business saying: “FIFA has many opportunities to grow football in our fast-changing world, and I look forward to ensuring that our commercial team plays a substantial part in ensuring that world football’s governing body will be at the centre of all these important business developments in order to benefit our sport globally.”
