August 23 – The European Club Association (ECA) will hold its first board meeting of the season this Thursday (August 25) in Istanbul.
Chaired by Paris St Germain’s Nasser Al-Khelaïfi (pictured), key items on the agenda include:
- An update on stakeholder matters including the UEFA Recovery Fund, FIFA/International Match Calendar, the UEFA/ECA Joint Venture, commercial matters, and the ECA Network,
- An update on ECA’s Ukraine Relief Fund and member clubs’ support for Ukrainian refugees,
- Approval of the 2021/22 financial accounts and 2022/23 budget.
The ECA meeting is taking place in the same week as the 2022/23 UEFA European Club Competitions group stage draws.
The ECA represents more than 240 clubs across Europe. Its board members include Nasser Al-Khelaïfi (Paris Saint-Germain), Edwin van der Sar (AFC Ajax), Oliver Kahn (FC Bayern München), Dan Friedkin (AS Roma), Aki Riihilahti (HJK Helsinki), Vinai Venkatesham (Arsenal FC), Daniel Levy (Tottenham Hotspur FC), Hans-Joachim Watzke (Borussia Dortmund) and Ali Koç (Fenerbahçe SK).
The ECA will back in Istanbul on September 22-23 for its 28th ECA General Assembly.
