September 22 – Global flooring and wallcovering giant Gerflor has become an official tournament sponsor of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Kuwait 2022 and AFC Futsal Club Championship 2023.
Gerflor, which employs more than 4,000 people over 100 countries, reported sales of €1.05 billion in 2021.
The partnership stems from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and Gerflor’s commitment to the best playing and safety standards for players and match officials. Gerflor will provide Futsal pitch flooring solutions for the Kuwait finals.
Gerflor’s Taraflex has been a leading brand in global flooring since it was first introduced in 1947.
The 2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup will be the 17th edition of the championship. Turkmenistan had been the appointed host for the 2020 championship but those finals were cancelled due to the covid pandemic.
Kuwait’s kept the 2022 hosting but the tournament was moved from February to the current date that sees it kick off on September 27 and run through to October 8.
Iran are the current reigning champions from 2018 and will be defending their crown against 16 other nations in the finals.
