Queue jumping. Man City use WaitTime to speed up match-day experience

December 6 – Premier League Manchester City is to install an artificial intelligence platform that will provide real-time information on crowd density, traffic and movement of fans.

The agreement to use the WaitTime technology comes as a result of the club’s partnership with  Cisco who became Man City’s Official Technology partner in 2019.

A successful pilot programme has been carried out on level one of the Etihad Stadium, and the club is now looking toexpand the technology to the second and third tiers of the stadium. Man City is also looking into integrating live informationwith digital signage on the concourse screens to provide fans with real-time data, directing them to the shortest queue.

Greg Swimer, Chief Information & Technology Officer, City Football Group, said: “Continually improving

the matchday experience for fans visiting the Etihad Stadium is a priority across all areas of our Club…WaitTime has been implemented across our largest concourse areas and the opportunities for its use are widespread, with the potential toexpand to other areas of the stadium as well as the potential for future integration into live digital signage and otherplatforms.”

Cisco has been working with Man City since 2013 with end-to-end network systems deployed across the Etihad Stadium and wider campus. WaitTime’s technology integrates with the existing Cisco technology in place at the Etihad Stadium, usingCisco’s Meraki cameras to solve a variety of crowd management issues by leveraging both real-time data and historicalanalysis.
