Ronaldo on verge of closing €200m a year deal with Saudi club Al-Nassr

December 6 – Leading Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr have reportedly made a huge offer to sign Cristiano Ronaldo after the World Cup.

Last week speculation mounted that the Portuguese superstar, leading his side into battle against Switzerland today, had agreed a record-breaking deal to join Al Nassr, one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia with nine league titles.

The 37-year-old had his Manchester United contract terminated earlier this month following an explosive TV interview in which he criticised both the club and manager Erik ten Hag saying he felt “betrayed”.

Ronaldo reportedly rejected a move to Saudi Arabia last summer but now looks increasingly likely to sign a €200 million a year deal, the biggest ever contract awarded to a sports star anywhere in the world.

Although he is a free agent, he is not allowed to sign for a new club until January 1 as he was contracted to United when the last transfer window closed.
