FA’s chair Debbie Hewitt to headline at SIGA’s New York Summit on female leadership

February 7 – Debbie Hewitt, the first woman to Chair the Football Association of England, will be one of the headline speakers at the SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport to be hosted by Mastercard on March 7 in New York.

“As the first female Chair of The FA, I am excited to play my part in shaping the future of football and ensure that we maximise the power of football to be a force for good in society,” said Hewitt.

“England hosted the Women’s Euros in 2022 – this was a powerful opportunity to engage, inspire and unite, creating a meaningful opportunity to help women’s football flourish on the pitch and to bring momentum to more effective diversity and inclusion leadership in sport. The FA is passionate about achieving more effective representation at every level of the game and I am delighted to participate in the 2023 SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport to discuss how this can be achieved.”

The Summit will bring together some of the most influential stakeholders in the industry via live panels, keynote speeches, and one-on-one interviews discussing the challenges and opportunities facing women in leadership roles in sport.

Topics covered will include good governance, female leadership in action, athlete activism, mentorship, youth development and protection of female athletes, and commercialising women’s sport.

“We are honoured to welcome the Chairwoman of the The FA, Debbie Hewitt MBE, as our guest speaker at the SIGA Summit,” said Katie Simmonds, SIGA COO and Managing Director of the SIGA Women Programme. “Debbie Hewitt’s exceptional leadership, foresight and experience will be an invaluable addition to the conversation. She will undoubtedly  inspire  both the current and the next generation of female leaders in Sport.”

In-person places for the Mastercard Tech Hub, in Manhattan, are limited and are available early-bird rate of $295 until February 10. Digital passes are free, with a donation option – all income will be invested back into the programme.
