February 22 – Spanish coach Javi Garcia has a second chance to manage in the Premier League after being hired by Leeds United as the replacement for Jesse Marsch.
Garcia (pictured) previously had a spell at Watford from 2018-19, keeping the team in England’s top flight in back-to-back seasons before being fired after 20 months in charge.
It has taken more than two weeks for Leeds to replace Marsch, who was sacked on February 6 after less than a year following a poor run of form that left the club in a relegation battle.
The 52-year-old Garcia has been out of work since leaving Qatari side Al Sadd in June and has signed what Leeds described as a “flexible” contract.
Leeds last won a match in the Premier League on November 5 and are 19th in the table, just one point and one place above bottom-placed Southampton.
Garcia’s first game in charge could not be more important – a six-pointer against Southampton on Saturday provided he gets a work permit in time.
