May 11 – The increased importance of LaLiga to ‘Brand Spain’ has been recognised in a ranking that calculates the value and Brand Strength Index of leading companies and organisations.
The Brand Finance report has LaLiga as the only sports organisation amongst the top 100 brands in Spain, moving into the top 50 ranked brands in the country, its highest position since it first entered the rankings in 2019.
The report attributes LaLiga with a 1.8% growth in brand value compared to 2022, saying the ranking improvement is due to the league’s increased competitiveness globally and its financial strength following the CVC deal, the league’s new namingrights deal with EA Sports and the return of fans to stadiums.
Ángel Fernández, Head of Global Brand & Strategy at LaLiga, says: “We are proud to see that, for yet another year,LaLiga is one of the most relevant brands on the national scene, steadily increasing its brand value and strength thanks to the clubs, our fans and our entire ecosystem of competitions and experiences related to the world of LaLiga.”
The report also looks at key personnel who they call ‘Brand Guardians’ and ranks them accordingly.
Óscar Mayo, Executive Director of LaLiga, ranks in third place, with the highest employee approval rating and the bestscore in understanding the importance of brand and reputation of the organisation.
“LaLiga is much more than a brand and a competition, and I am proud to lead its growth in all areas with passion andcommitment. It is an honour to be included among the leaders and directors who make up the list of top CEOs and BrandGuardians for the first time,” said Mayo.
