Partizan Belgrade hunts for African talent as it locks squad out for failing to agree pay deal

May 29 – Serbia’s FK Partizan has agreed a co-operation with the Uganda and Kenya FAs based around bringing players from Africa to Europe.

Dragan Palibrk, president of the legal affairs committee of FK Partizan and a prominent Belgrade lawyer, is in Africa, where he is holding a series of meetings with representatives of the political, economic and sports leadership of the two countries.

At receptions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Jeja Odongo,  and with the President of the Uganda Football Federation – Mozez Magog, a future co-operation was agreed with the aim of bringing young, talented players from the African continent to Partizan.

Palibrk presented club jerseys to the hosts, inviting them to be guests of FK Partizan during the upcoming visit of His Excellency the President of Uganda, Joveri Miseveni ,to Belgrade.

The meetings were also attended by officials of The Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID), Matthew Bagonza and Aron Boajo, Uganda’s trade representative for Southeast Europe, Bratislav Stoiljković, as well as the manager of the Uganda national team Milutin Mića Sredojević.

One of the biggest clubs in Serbia, Paritzan is going through one of its most difficult periods. The club finished in fourth place in the Serbian Superliga and next season will participate in the qualification rounds for the UEFA Conference League. The management of the club and the fans are in constant conflict, with the financial problems for the Serbian club bigger than ever.

A week ago, Partizan management locked players out of the club’s training facility and stadium after they refused to sign agreements to reschedule the payment of salaries and bonuses owed to them by the club.

During the season, Partizan players have made similar agreements several times in order for the club to obtain a license.
A number of players are expected to leave the club in the summer transfer window.
