June 29 – The Portuguese capital Lisbon will stage the 2025 Women’s Champions League, with Athens and Wroclaw hosting the next two Europa Conference League finals.

UEFA’s executive committee announced the decisions Wednesday.

Following the 2020 and 2021 Champions League finals in Portugal, a major final returns to the country and to the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Athens and Wroclaw will host the 2024 and 2025 Europa Conference League finals respectively though the final at Athens’ Agia Sofia Stadium, the new home ground of AEK Athens, is subject to the delivery of key international and UEFA fixtures.

UEFA said that as the Athens stadium is brand new and not yet operated by the club for international games, it will keep it under an observation period until November 2023 with close attention paid to matches played by AEK Athens in the UEFA club competition and by the Greek national team in the EURO 2024 qualifiers.

If all goes well then Athens will be confirmed as the venue in December.

In other decisions, UEFA awarded the 2025 European Women’s Under-19 Championship to Poland and confirmed the format for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with the 12 group winners ensuring their passage to the tournament directly, and the 12 runners-up as well as the best-ranked four group winners of the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League that did not qualify directly, featuring in the playoffs in March 2026.

Cyprus will host the next UEFA executive committee in September.
