July 11 – The Ukrainian FA has followed up Dynamo Kiev’s strongly-worded attack on Turkish club Fenerbahce for playing in Russia by lodging a formal protest to FIFA and UEFA against the pre-season tournament that was staged in St. Petersburg last week.
Russian teams are banned from FIFA and UEFA competitions because of the country’s invasion of Ukraine and on Monday Dynamo branded Fenerbahce as a club with “no honour, no shame, no conscience” for taking part in the event which also involved Zenit St. Petersburg FC, Serbia’s Crvena Zvezda FC and Azerbaijan’s Neftchi FC
“The UAF has made repeated calls to UEFA, FIFA and all our partners in the football community in Europe and the world to prevent participation in football competitions with Russian teams, including on the territory of Russia,” the Ukrainian FA said in a statement.
“To date, the appeals of the Ukrainian federation have not been heard by the two football authorities.”
