Mbappé turns down €300m move to Saudi Arabia as Real Madrid close in, reports

July 27 – The Kylian Mbappé saga is rolling on after the French superstar reportedly snubbed a world record offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.

Paris St Germain gave the Saudi Pro League side permission to speak with Mbappe after apparently receiving a €300million bid for the player in writing.

According to the French sports newspaper L’Equipe, Mbappé and his team have refused even to enter into discussions, however, prompting further speculation that he will ultimately end up at Real Madrid, his preferred destination.

Mbappé’s PSG future has been in doubt ever since he told the club in June that he would not extend his existing deal through to 2025, meaning he would become a free agent next summer and able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with another club as early as January.

PSG have not confirmed the reports that Mbappé has snubbed Al Hilal’s approach but are known to be keen to cash in now, if he doesn’t sign an extension, rather than let him walk away for free in a year’s time when his contract expires.

Meanwhile, Al-Hilal have completed the signing of the Brazilian Malcom on a four-year deal. The 26-year-old winger has played the past four seasons for Zenit St. Petersburg.

Financial details were not disclosed although last week Zenit’s CEO Alexandr Medvedev said that Al-Hilal would pay €60 million for the transfer. He becomes Al-Hilal’s fourth signing this summer after Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly, Serbia midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves.
