August 22 – Belgium international and Stade Rennais winger Jeremy Doku is on the verge of completing a €60 million transfer to Manchester City, as talks have reached their conclusion after rumbling on for the past week.
The young star is expected to be unveiled in sky blue in the coming days, as the club looks to replace Riyadh Mahrez following his transfer to Al-Ahli earlier this summer.
Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is being eyed by Liverpool as they look for another defensive midfielder after securing Wataru Endo in a deal worth €19 million last week.
The player completed a €49 million move to the Man City this time last summer, but only played 290 minutes in a Premier League campaign plagued by injury and fitness concerns. Liverpool’s high-profile search for a first-team quality defensive midfielder also includes interest in Cheick Doucoure of Crystal Palace and Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich.
Liverpool’s interest in Fluminese midfielder Andre has also solidified after it was revealed that the player has agreed personal terms with the Merseyside club. Fluminese want to keep the player as they fancy their chances at winning the Copa Libertadores, which concludes around new year. The 22-year-old has a release clause of €40 million.
West Ham United are keen on AFC Bournemouth’s 25-year-old English striker Dominic Solanke in a deal that would set the Hammers back up to £35 million. The move would also benefit Liverpool, who had a 20% sell-on-clause installed as part of Solanke’s €21 million switch to the south coast in January 2019.
Armed with a budget boosted by the departures of Declan Rice and Gianluca Scamacca, West Ham are very busy in the transfer market as they scramble to find suitable replacements.
Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri is also strongly linked with a move to the East London club. The 26-year-old impressed for his national side Morocco during the World Cup, and scored the UEFA Super Cup opening goal versus Man City last week. The player has two years left on his deal with Sevilla and has a market value of €20 million according to Transfermarkt.
In-demand USA and Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has agreed personal terms with Chelsea as they continue their hunt for attacking talent.
The 22-year-old comes off the back of a prolific loan spell in Ligue1 last year, which saw him score 21 league goals. Balogun has a market value of €30 million according to TransferMarkt. After his debut performances for the US in the Nations League in June he issued Arsenal with a ‘play-me or sell-me’ ultimatum. It appears they have opted to sell, as Balogun was not in the Arsenal squad for either of their first two Premier League games. Whether he will get more games at Chelsea remains to be seen.
VfB Stuttgart and Greece defender Konstantinos Mavropanos is the latest player on the cusp of a move to West Ham. The 25-year-old is valued at €15 million and has two years left on his current deal.
