China to host its first FIFAe Continental Cup 2023 in Shanghai

August 6 – While EA FC, the FIFA video game without FIFA, has blasted its launch across the opening of the European season, FIFAe has announced it will hold its Continental Cup 2023 in Shanghai, China, the first time FIFAe has held an event in China.

The competition will see the best teams in China, Korea Republic, Thailand and Vietnam compete in the Online 4 teams for prize money of $300,000 from September 13-17.

The 16 teams will be comprised of four players each, playing in a two-sided double-elimination style bracket. Each matchup will be a best-of-5 series.

FIFA said that this format means that every match will mean something. Teams will compete in the double-elimination bracket in the first four days with the final days featuring the best four teams, where losing a match will end the tournament run of the respective team.

South Korea’s Min Cho Dan won the inaugural competition in 2021, while the Vietnamese Team Pro Gamer lifted the trophy last year will mount a title defense at the third edition in Shanghai in September.

The best eight teams from the eligible regions earned their spots at the FIFAe Continental Cup 2023 based on their FO4 Series Ranking Points and the remaining eight slots were given to the two best teams from each region.
