September 19 – Turkey’s Samsunspor has signed a shirt sponsorship agreement with P&G brands Old Spice and Head & Shoulders.
This is the first deal of its kind for the P&G Company in Turkish football. The Old Spice logo will feature on the side panel of first team shirts.
“We are happy to complete the shirt sponsorship agreement with Yılport Samsunpsor, which has an important past in Turkish football history. This agreement we made with Samsunspor is a very important signature for us on behalf of P&G. As Old Spice, Head & Shoulders, Gillette and Oral-B, we are the jersey sponsors of a football team for the first time in our Turkish history. I hope this will continue. As P&G, we will always continue to provide our support towards the development of Turkish sports and becoming a sports country,” said commercial director of P&G Turkey Armağan Sünerli.
Neither the value or term of the contract were announced.
Samsunspor President Yüksel Yıldırım, talking about the importance of the club to the city of Samsun and its ambition, said: “Samsun is an important sports city and its most important brand is Samsunspor. We are a club that has been a source of pride for our country and has contributed to Turkish football for many years with both its international successes and the young athletes it trains. After 11 years, we returned to the Trendyol Super League, but our goals are much further than that. We are more than a football team with our social responsibility projects, the importance we give to young people and women, and the new athletes we want to bring to Turkish sports.”
Regarding the sponsorship he commented: “We see such agreements as collaboration rather than sponsorship. We aim for long-term collaborations with strong brands that share common values.. We hope that we will continue this cooperation with the P&G group for many years and carry Samsunspor to a future where we will hear its name frequently outside the borders of the country. P&G is the shirt sponsor of a football team for the first time in Turkey’s history. We are happy that this first happened with Samsunspor.”
