Turks fire Ataturk Stadium management after players turn green

September 28 – The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has terminated with immediate effect its contract with the management company of the national stadium, the Atatürk Olympic Stadium.

The TFF said it made the decision after the third round match in the Turkish SuperLig between Istanbulspor and Galatasaray, which had previously been postponed.

During the game the players of both teams were slowly turning green every time they touched the ground. The players’ skin and hair were also coloured green.

After the match, it became clear that the company responsible for the maintenance of the stadium had tried to cover up the problems with the turf at one of the most modern stadiums in Turkey.

Due to the lack of grass in certain parts of the ground, green food dye had been used to treat the surface. The The TFF reacted angrily and announced that they were terminating their contract with the company responsible for the maintenance of the stadium in Istanbul, though didn’t mention the name of the company.
