Gatorade keeps Milan monopoly with AC Milan renewal

October 30 – Italian giants AC Milan have renewed their partnership with Gatorade which will see the PepsiCo group’s brand continue as the Official Sports Drink of the Rossoneri Men’s and Women’s Team, during Serie A and UEFA Champions League matches.

The deal will see the American sports-themed beverage company continue to hydrate AC Milan players during training and matches.

Simultaneously, Gatorade has renewed its partnership with Rossoneri arch-rivals Inter Milan, who will share similar benefits.

The deal’s renewal is refreshing news for Gatorade following the collapse of their decade-long deal with FC Barcelona, who opted for PRIME, the beverage company co-owned by Youtube sensations Logan Paul and Olajide ‘KSI’ Olatunji, as their preferred hydration partner.

Starting this year, the long-standing partnership with AC Milan is set to undergo a significant eco-friendly evolution. In 2022, Gatorade unveiled a 500ml bottle crafted entirely from recycled plastic, aligning with PepsiCo Italia’s commitment to sustainable packaging. This initiative seeks to progressively diminish the reliance on new plastic in their packaging, with the goal of slashing over 4,000 tonnes of CO2eq emissions by 2025.

Maikel Oettle, commercial director of AC Milan, said: “This collaboration further strengthens the Club’s commitment to achieving excellent performances, helping us to keep our players at the top of their game. We are proud to continue on this journey, contributing to the Club’s success on and off the pitch.”

Marcello Pincelli, PepsiCo Italia CEO said: “The consolidation of this partnership is for us, once again, a source of great pride as well as evidence of our shared values of determination and desire to achieve ever more ambitious goals. Gatorade’s mission has always been to fuel the performance of every athlete.”

Third-placed AC Milan travel to Udinese on Saturday for matchday 11 of the Serie A season after a difficult draw against champions Napoli on Sunday night, which saw Rudi Garcia’s side undergo a thrilling second-half comeback to rule out Olivier Giroud’s early brace.
