November 14 – Panini have partnered with the English FA to produce a sticker album dedicated to the stars of the Barclays Womens Super League, the first time a women’s league has had a dedicated.
With the concept unveiled in October after the two organisations entered a licensing partnership, Panini has finally given fans a glimpse of the front cover of the upcoming project.
The collection will hit the shelves from December 14 with 250 stickers to collect including special limited edition stickers from all 12 BWSL teams.
WSL attendances soared 170% last season, with new attendance records being set already since the WSL restarted in October. This progress coincides with the Barclays WSL being the most represented women’s professional division at this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The sticker collection will feature nearly 350 stickers in total, including the all-important ‘shinies’ for collectors from all 12 Barclays WSL teams in the English topflight.
Katie Gritt, Head of Marketing for Sport at Panini commented: “This is such a special moment for us at Panini, having the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the growth of the women’s game through the first ever Barclays Women’s Super League Official Sticker Collection!
“We couldn’t be prouder of this collection and what it represents; the phenomenal growth and success of these incredible women, and we look forward to supporting the continued growth of the women’s game through our Barclays WSL collections.”
The FA’s Director of Women’s Football, Baroness Sue Campbell, added: “With fan experience key to everything we do, we are delighted that fans of the BWSL will now be able to collect and trade stickers of their favourite players.”
The next WSL match day will see league leaders Chelsea take on Liverpool at home in a bid to stay on top of the table. The blues have won four of their last five games and are just three points clear of Arsenal.
