Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd take pre-season match-ups to US

February 26 – Premier League Liverpool will head to the USA for their pre-season tour this summer for the club’s first showing in the post-Klopp era.

Liverpool will meet Premier League rivals Arsenal at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on July 31 and Manchester United at the Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina, on August 3.

Arsenal will play Manchester United at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, on July 27. This second time the two Premier League clubs have faced each other in the US, with the same fixture last July selling out the 80,000 capacity MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Last summer, Liverpool spent pre-season in Germany and Singapore, away from the media spotlight of the PL Summer Series in the US and the West Coast tours of Man Utd and Arsenal.

Liverpool last toured the USA in the summer of 2019, facing Borussia Dortmund in Indiana, Sevilla in Boston, and Sporting CP in New York as a warm up to an eventual league-winning campaign – a first in 30 years.

“We are proud to announce our highly anticipated return to the USA providing a great environment for the squad to prepare for the season ahead” said Ben Latty, the club’s commercial director.

“Pre-season tours always present exceptional opportunities for our supporters, the team and our official partners to engage in memorable experiences within a key focus market for the Club…

“The USA is an important market for the Club and our partners; with 67 official supporters’ clubs, international academies across 12 States and the USA being the number one international market for our merchandising business.”

Liverpool vs Arsenal in the Premier League this season was the most-watched Premier League match in US history, with 1.96 million viewers across NBC, Peacock and NBC Sports Digital platforms.

Arsenal’s owner, Stan Kroenke, also owns the SoFi story which is home to his NFL team, LA Rams;

Arsenal have 85 branches of their Arsenal America fan club in 33 states and 83 locations. This includes 12 in California and nine in New York.

Arsenal Sporting Director, Edu, said: “We know how great SoFi Stadium is after our sold-out match there last year. The facilities are incredible and we’re excited to return. We look forward to making further announcements about our trip soon.”
